Thank you for wanting to take part in the Sonder beta test. You, our testers, are some of the most incredible people we know. Your support is crucial to our mission. We are trying to build a better social app for everyone, not just ourselves, and your feedback will shape the future of Sonder. This letter provides some basic information about Sonder and what to expect from the beta test. If you have questions at any point or just want to talk about the app, please feel free to reach out to us in any way.

We are building Sonder because, despite the promise of social media and its ability to bring us together, we feel that apps like Facebook and Instagram prioritize making money over helping us share the things that matter with the people we care about most. 

These are some of the problems we see with social media today:

• Lack of control over what you see.
• Apps pick which posts you see
• Popularity contests dictate what is “important” / what gets displayed
• Superficial
• Very few of the posts on social media matter, and we don’t feel like the people we care about most are really able to share the most important things in their lives.
• Waste of time
• Endless feeds, Meaningless content, Addictive design, Tons of distractions
• Ex: going to check one thing, getting distracted, and wondering 10 minutes later why you opened facebook in the first place

We are launching the Beta because we feel that Sonder is at the point where it starts to solve the problems we listed above:

• We let you decide which friendships matter the most to you.
• We let you choose who you share your content with.
• No endless feeds.

Our goal is to build the best app in the world for sharing the things that matter with the people you care about most. There’s a long and exciting road ahead. We are working on Sonder everyday and with your help and feedback, we hope to give the world a new way to be vulnerable, have real connections, support friends when they struggle, and be happier.
